As we have based our entire brand on the iconic Silverback gorilla we thought we should try and give something back to this magnificent animal. Gorillas are an endangered species and are only found in 10 African counties worldwide so we wanted to try and help them out in our own small way.
To do this we decided to adopt two fully grown Silverback gorillas from the Born Free Foundation. There names are Mugaruka and Chimanuka and they live in the mountain rainforests of the Congo. Chimanuka is the leader of a troop of 30 gorillas (17 males and 12 youngsters) and is a strong and powerful leader. In contrast Mugaruka is a solitary gorilla who when he was younger unfortunately caught his hand in a poachers snare and has ended up losing all his fingers on that hand...
The donation money we send for our two new family members is to help fund the rangers who protect their habitat. It pays for their patrol vehicles, walking boots, first aid kits, GPS to help monitor the remote areas of the park and much more.
Hopefully buy adopting Mugaruka and Chimanuka Silverback can help them keep their natural habitat, protect them from poachers and let them enjoy a long and happy life...

About Born Free
The Born Free Foundation is a dynamic international wildlife charity, founded in 1984 by the actors Bill Travers MBE and Virginia McKenna OBE, stars of the iconic film Born Free, and their son, Will Travers OBE, the charity’s President. Born Free takes action worldwide to save lives, stop suffering and protect species in the wild. Born Free never forgets the individual. Our emergency teams rescue vulnerable animals from appalling lives of misery in tiny cages, often barren of any enrichment, and gives them lifetime care in spacious bush sanctuaries.
